Replacing Fear with Hope

Donor Profile: The Country Day School, Ontario, Canada

The drama students at The Country Day School in Ontario, Canada put together a production of Lin-Manuel Miranda’s “In The Heights,” as a fundraiser for the Hispanic Federation’s UNIDOS: Disaster and Relief Recovery Program to Support Puerto Rico.

When asked, why did you give to support Hispanic Federation, the students replied, “When we were looking for a partner to help us make a difference in Puerto Rico all the way from Canada, we chose the Hispanic Federation. They replace fear with hope; desperation with dignity; cruelty with love; destruction with new life. To the Hispanic Federation and to all they serve, with respect and grace, we say, Alabanza.”

The students at The Country Day School raised over $7,000 to invest in the lives of Puerto Ricans recovering from Hurricane Maria. Since that time, over 1,609 community fundraisers were started online to support the work of the Hispanic Federation. With your support we raised over $783,132 through this digital platform. Because you recruited your family, friends, and colleagues to get involved over 17,864 donations were received through our virtual platforms.
