–– Hispanic Federation President Frankie Miranda issued the following statement on the “Biden-Harris Plan for Recovery, Renewal, and Respect for Puerto Rico” plan.

“We are pleased to see a major presidential candidate unveil their policy platform for Puerto Rico, whose recovery must be a priority for any administration. The Biden-Harris platform seeks to address many inequities and urgent needs that matter deeply to Hispanic Federation, including a commitment to find a binding, democratic solution to Puerto Rico’s status that relies on the self-determination of the Puerto Rican people.

Hispanic Federation is committed to advocate with the people of Puerto Rico to ensure that the next President and Congress recognize and respect the inherent rights of the people of Puerto Rico and enact the policies and programs that facilitate the island’s long-term prosperity. Puerto Rico needs leadership at the highest levels to help it recover from decades of neglect and unequal treatment, and to move forward into a future its people deserve. The Biden-Harris Puerto Rico policy platform is an important step in that direction.”
