Statement from Hispanic Federation President and CEO Frankie Miranda on DACA's 10th Anniversary

“On June 15, 2012, Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals, better known as DACA, was announced as a temporary program to provide protection from removal from the United States and work authorization for recipients. The program was meant to be a placeholder until Congress passed legislation that would provide this group of immigrants with a pathway to citizenship.

Hispanic Federation, LGBTQ+ Leaders, Award-winning Latinx artists unveil $1 Million initiative to empower Latinx LGBTQ+ Organizations

Hispanic Federation (HF) announced the launch of the Advance Change Together (ACT) initiative, a new and much-needed Latinx LGBTQ+ advocacy and capacity building initiative that will empower and support organizations working on the front lines to protect and serve Latinx LGBTQ+ communities. LGBTQ+ leaders from across the nation joined HF in announcing the Federation's $1 million investment that will create and fund the initiative.

Hispanic Federation: En memoria de las víctimas de Pulse, el Congreso debe aprobar una legislación sobre armas más estricta y abordar el odio y la homofobia desde sus raíces

El 12 de junio marca el sexto aniversario del espantoso tiroteo en el club nocturno Pulse, de Orlando, en el que perdieron la vida 49 personas inocentes. Hispanic Federation se solidariza con las familias de las víctimas, los supervivientes del ataque y todas las comunidades latinas y LGBTQ contra el odio, la xenofobia y la homofobia, y continúa pidiendo al Congreso que promulgue una legislación más estricta sobre armas y otras leyes para evitar que ocurran tragedias similares en el futuro.

Hispanic Federation: In the Memory of Pulse Victims, Congress Must Pass Stricter Gun Legislation and Address Hate and Homophobia at their Roots

June 12, marks the six-year remembrance of the 49 innocent lives taken during the gruesome shooting at Pulse Nightclub in Orlando. Hispanic Federation stands in solidarity with victims’ families, survivors of the attack, and all Latinx and LGBTQ communities against hate, xenophobia, and homophobia, and continues to call on Congress to enact stricter gun legislation and other laws to prevent similar future tragedies from happening.

Hispanic Federation Opposes Any Legislative Efforts to Reinstate Title 42

Last week, U.S. District Judge Robert Summerhays issued a preliminary injunction to block the Biden administration from following CDC’s guidance on ending Title 42 by May 23. Hispanic Federation condemns the decision to prolong this program and opposes any upcoming legislative efforts that would reinstate or codify Title 42 into law under certain conditions.

La Federación Hispana Pide Al Congreso Que Apruebe Legislación Sobre El Derecho Al Aborto

Anteayer se filtró el borrador de la opinión del juez de la Corte Suprema, Samuel Alito, en el que afirma que la mayoría de los jueces de ese tribunal podrían anular la decisión del caso Roe v. Wade, establecida por la Corte Suprema en 1973, que convirtió el aborto en un derecho constitucional en todo el país.

A draft opinion from Supreme Court Justice Samuel Alito leaked yesterday stating that a majority of Supreme Court justices could overturn Roe v. Wade - a 1973 Supreme Court decision that made abortion a constitutional right across the country. Hispanic Federation urgently calls on Congress to act swiftly in passing federal legislation that will protect the right to abortion.

Civil rights groups condemn the Supreme Court’s decision to exclude citizen residents of Puerto Rico from federal safety-net programs in the U.S. v.
