CREAR Futuros Expands Reach

The CREAR Futuros program is a college retention and graduation program that provides students with peer mentors, leadership development training, academic support, internships, social services and counseling. It’s also an advocacy coalition of key stakeholders pushing for systemic educational policy changes that promote Latino college readiness, access and success. Thanks to the critical support of partners in philanthropy — including the Michael and Susan Dell Foundation, Delta Air Lines, NYS Office of Children and Families, Verizon, The Steven and Alexandra Cohen Foundation, Univision, Newscorp and Macy’s — the program is expanding throughout the United States.

CREAR Futuros is expanding to two additional CUNY sites in New York this year: Hostos Community College in the Bronx, NY and the Borough of Manhattan Community College in Manhattan. Similarly, we have begun national expansion efforts at the University of Central Florida and Valencia College. HF received an additional 175K grant from the Steven and Alexandra Cohen Foundation, allowing us to support our expansion in Connecticut at Naugatuck Valley Community College. HF expansion efforts will allow us to serve approximately 700 Latino college students in 2016. For more information on our CREAR Futuros project, please contact our AVP for Programs, Jessica Guzman.
