HF Hotline and Phone Bank Days

It has become a familiar sight at the Hispanic Federation offices in New York City: every seat full, phone lines ringing nonstop, several staffers walking up and down the aisles answering any questions that may arise. Every time we host a phone bank, we can be sure that we will be inundated with phone calls, an affirmation that Línea Informativa is an effective and helpful resource for our community.

Earlier this month, we held two phone banks with Univision 41 WXTV where we responded to more than 4,000 calls. One phone bank was focused on IDNYC, New York City’s municipal identification program, and the other on the Affordable Care Act. Individuals called in with a wide range of questions and in every case our volunteers were able to either help them immediately or direct them to the most appropriate resource.

We are also proud to have organized phone banks with Telemundo 47 WNJU on DACA and a host of other immigration matters.

In total, working with our wonderful media partners, we have been able to assist over 25,000 callers with educational, housing, health, financial literacy and other issues. We look forward to hosting more phone banks in 2016, helping an even greater number of individuals than we did this year.
