Hispanic Federation Condemns Florida’s Anti-Gay Bill, Calls on the Department of Justice to Challenge the Law, if Signed by Republican Governor DeSantis

Hispanic Federation strongly condemns the passage of the so-called “Don’t Say Gay” bill by the Florida legislature today, and calls on the U.S. Department of Justice to challenge the law in federal court if it’s signed by Gov. Ron DeSantis. HB 1557, better known as the “Don’t Say Gay” bill, is a transparent attempt by the Florida Legislature to censor the LGBTQ youth in Florida.

Hispanic Federation Celebrates Passage of Build Back Better Act in the House as Step towards Creating Equitable and Resilient Communities

Today, the U.S. House of Representatives passed the Build Back Better Act, a landmark piece of legislation that includes programs critical for all Latino communities. Hispanic Federation applauds passage of this transformative bill that will benefit all Americans by providing critical support to families with paid family leave, funding for childcare, expansion of the Child Tax Credit, and increased access to affordable housing and education for low-income children. Build Back Better will also advance environmental justice, provide work permits and protections for an estimated 7 million undocumented immigrants; and address deep racial inequities in our healthcare system. The legislation now moves to the Senate, where we oppose further attempts to weaken the final bill and urge a swift vote so that it can be signed into law by President Biden.

Hispanic Federation and Allies Demand Biden Administration Stop Defending the Federal Government’s Discrimination Against US Citizens Who Live in Puerto Rico

The week before the U.S. Supreme Court hears arguments on U.S. v. Vaello-Madero case, Hispanic Federation and 60 allies sent a letter unified in their request to President Biden asking the Administration to immediately stop defending Congress’s ability to discriminate against U.S. citizens living in Puerto Rico by denying equal access to federal safety-net programs like Supplemental Security Income (SSI) program, Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP), and the Medicare Part D Low-Income Subsidy (LIS).
